Acupuncture with Vallerie

Hello, I’m Vallerie. I recently moved here from Houston, Texas, and I am looking forward to working and living in the district. I enjoy working one on one with patients in order to provide the best care possible. I like building relationships with my patients because it enables me to further understand what they need most during each session.

Outside of Acupuncture, you can find me dancing and singing, gardening, learning new languages, and traveling. Any suggestions on good local food? Must do outdoor adventures in the tri-state area?

A Space of Healing, Trust, and Safety

A lot of us don’t get an opportunity to just be and have moments of surrender or real vulnerability, and I hope we can create that together at your Acupuncture session. I strongly believe that health encompasses the physical, mental, emotional, and the ethereal.

Chinese Medicine has a unique way of engaging us to cultivate awareness and yet ground and liberate simultaneously. These moments of self-check-in are valuable and can be life changing. I hope to create an environment that inspires this level of trust and depth with you.

My Story into Chinese Medicine

After pursuing the elusive world of dance for many years, I became disgruntled and fatigued with the direction and competitiveness of the dance world. I always had a keen interest in alternative Medicine and decided to pursue it seriously as an alternative to dance. Not to sound cliche, but I think Chinese Medicine found me and not the other way around.

Things fell into place with ease as I started my journey in Chinese Medicine and have continued to flow and grow. This Medicine has taught me and continues to teach me through the people I have the pleasure of treating, mentors, other practitioners, and through self-study.

My Educational Journey

I received a combined Bachelors and Masters Degree from Dragon Rises College of Oriental Medicine in Gainesville, FL. Dragon Rises College was founded by Dr.Shen Hammer as a culmination of his work as a trained psychiatrist and the teachings of his teacher Dr. John Shen, a well-known Chinese Medicine practitioner and doctor.

Apart from academic learning, I have had a chance to travel and live in many different places. This worldly learning has taught me various life skills that have shaped and continue to shape me as an individual and also as a practitioner of Chinese Medicine.

After one visit, I was a believer!

I was a naysayer about acupuncture. I couldn't imagine how it would make a difference. After one visit, I was a believer. I've been going for 8 months—sometimes every other week, sometimes every three or four weeks—and it's very useful. In fact, when I don't go, my body misses it. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
